What you can expect at your 1st Visit
What you can expect during your initial visit is Dr. Reich will take a detailed history as part of the new patient process to rule out any potential red flags and to help determine if our practice is a good fit for the care you may need. There are intake forms to fill out and you will be asked questions about what brings you into the office, your recent health history, family and social history, and and medications you may be taking.
Following the intake and history taking process an exam will be performed to determine which tissues may be injured or generating your pain or dysfunction, or any limiting factors which may be a concern. Whether you were injured in a car accident, playing your favorite sport, shoveling snow, helping a friend move, or you have a pain or ache that has you feeling sick and tired, we will do our best to identify the cause of your pain and any other associated symptoms.
Once the problem or areas of dysfunction have been identified, Dr. Reich will outline which treatments are available, allow you to ask any questions, and inform you about any risks or alternatives to treatment which may be available to you in order to guide you to a successful health outcome.
Treatment provided in the office includes reassurance and education about your condition, self care including stretches and home exercises, physio-therapeutic modalities (such as heat or electric muscle stimulation), chiropractic adjustments (manipulation of the joints), and manual soft tissue treatment such as trigger point therapy, cupping, or instrument assisted soft tissue therapy. Joint cracking (adjustment) or manipulation are not necessary to feel better in many cases and are one tool that may be offered, but there are many other methods of treatment and rehabilitation which are offered as well.
The frequency and duration of your care will also be discussed and any follow-up appointments will be scheduled if needed. Treatment plans are individualized to each person.
